Today introduced the first prototype of the Spyder version of its all-new second-generation sports cars, the Spyker C8 Aileron. Spyker Cars, manufacturer of exclusive, hand-crafted sports cars since 2000. The 2010 Spyker Sport Cars C8 Aileron Spyder was unveiled at the Spyker lounge on Peter Hay Hill on Saturday, and subsequently displayed on the concept lawn at the 59th Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance on Sunday.

Zeewolde, The Netherlands (4 November 2010) – The Spyker C8 Aileron Spyder concept makes its UK debut today at MPH The Prestige and Performance Motor Show at Earls Court in London. For the first time, British motoring enthusiasts visiting the annual celebration of performance motoring will be able to lay their eyes on one of the most exclusive cars in the world.

The Spyker C8 Aileron is an advanced mid-engine, two-seat sports cars, featuring a longer wheelbase than Spyker's existing sports cars, the C8 Laviolette and convertible C8 Spyder. The Spyker C8 Aileron Spyder sports a high-quality, semi-automatic canvas soft-top. The roof's operation is electric/hydraulic, secured by one central latch operated manually.

The 2010 Spyker Sport Cars C8 Aileron Spyder uses the Audi 4.2 litre V8 engine, delivering 400 bhp and is available with two transmission alternatives. The first one is a 6-speed Getrag manual gearbox, with ratios perfectly matched to the V8 engine. A ZF 6-speed automatic gearbox is optional, which comes standard with paddle shifts behind the steering wheel. Both transmissions retain Spyker's trademark exposed gear change mechanism.

The 2010 Spyker Sport Cars C8 Aileron Spyder features an all-aluminium V8 engine producing 400 bhp and generating 354 lbs of torque at 3,400 rpm. The engine is paired to a manual six-speed gearbox, driving the rear wheels via a limited slip differential. For the first time, Spyker is offering an optional automatic transmission on the C8 Aileron. The Aileron delivers a top speed of 300km/h (187 mph) and accelerates from standstill to 60 mph in a mere 4.5 seconds.

The 2010 Spyker Sport Cars C8 Aileron Spyder is fitted with a brand new front and rear independent double-wishbone suspension system developed by Lotus. The new suspension system includes a new kinematic layout of the front and rear suspension, front and rear stabilizer bars, mono-tube dampers, coil over damper steel springs, anti-dive and anti-squat setup for improved handling properties.

Saab: Still Alive!

This morning we posted that Saab was done. That it wrong. We learnt just minuted ago that Saab is still alive. Swedish national papers indicate that a total 13 points were addressed over the past two days. They also state that GM and Spyker will have until tomorrow evening to decide is Saab stays alive or not. GM and Spyker say they are now working on a final solution before the deadline.

GM’s statement:

Following Friday’s announcement that GM will begin the orderly wind down of Saab, GM has received inquiries from several parties. We will evaluate each inquiry. We will not comment further until these evaluations have been completed.

Spyker’s statement:

We have made every effort to resolve the issues that were preventing the conclusion of this matter and we have asked GM and all other involved parties to seriously consider this offer. We are very confident that our renewed offer will remove the impasse that was standing in the way of an agreement on Friday, and this would still allow us to conclude the deal prior to the expiry of the deadline originally set by GM of December 31st.

In order to maintain operations, Saab needed a quick resolution. We regret that we were not able to complete this transaction with Spyker Cars. We will work closely with the Saab organization to wind down the business in an orderly and responsible manner. This is not a bankruptcy or forced liquidation process. Consequently, we expect Saab to satisfy debts including supplier payments, and to wind down production and the distribution channel in an orderly manner while looking after our customers."

These were the words of GM Europe President Nick Reilly. It is now official: GM is closing down Saab. But, their could be a second life for Saab because before Saab's death, they had an agreement with China's BAIC that they would be able to sell the current-generation Saab 9-5 (but not the 2010 model shown in Frankfurt) and some of the 9-3 models. What we do not know is what will become of th upcoming 9-5 Sedan and the 9-4x. Stay tuned for more information.

Saab continues it's race. After a no deal with Koenigsegg last month. Yesterday, Saab has closed another deal, this time with Spyker. Here is the official statement:

“Despite the best efforts of all involved, it has become very clear that the due diligence required to complete this complex transaction could not be executed a reasonable time. In order to maintain operations, Saab needed a quick resolution,” said GM Europe President Nick Reilly. “We regret that we were not able to complete this transaction with Spyker Cars. We will work closely with the Saab organization to wind down the business in an orderly and responsible manner. This is not a bankruptcy or forced liquidation process. Consequently, we expect Saab to satisfy debts including supplier payments, and to wind down production and the distribution channel in an orderly manner while looking after our customers.”

Koenigsegg was not able to finish the deal this past week, but Spyker is showing interest in buying Saab. There is thing no one understands; Spyker is not doing well lately selling supercars for over $200,000. Saab hasn’t made any profit the last eight years. It even lost about $340 million in 2008. So why take over Saab? NO one knows!

This past week, Spyker has been very quiet lately. The automaker from Zeewolde, Holland is shifting its manufacturing base to Coventry in the UK. Spyker CEO Victor Muller confirmed earlier this week. Over 135 Spyker employees are working in Holland but company official say that only 45 will need to move. Although they are moving, engineering, corporate staff functions, sales, after-sales, marketing and Spyker's GT race team will remain in Zeewolde.

Ferrari lately have been popping up Ferrari stores all over the world. Now, they are up to putting one in Greece, located at the heart of Athens in Kolonaki street. They already have stores in Milan, Rome and Venice in Italy, London in the UK, Barcelona in Spain, San Francisco and Miami in the U.S., Macao in China and Dubai in the U.A.E. They are also planning to put 50 more stores all over the world in Europe, America, and the Middle and Far East.

The Audi A7 exists! We know thanks to WorldCarFans.com. The car when spotted was not heavily disguised, but photos are not great. The 4-door coupe is similar to the A5 Sportback, but with different B and C pillars. The car will feature a new Turbo V8 or if costumers want, they can buy the car with a V8 TDI producing around 800Nm of torque. The car also seems longer and wider than the A5 and will compete against the Porsche Panamera and the Aston Martin Rapide.

According to WreckedExotics.com, two Lambo Murcielago crashes have happened lately. One happened in Park Lane, London and one in Switzerland. The Switzerland accident occurred late Thursday night. A young and drunk Russian driver was in his Lambo, and crashed his Italian supercar.
