Sport Car Racing in 2030 Project by Marco Sweston Touch Effect Motorsports Mercedes-Benz W25 inpired car
Technology and design, nowadays are moving ahead at high speeds, thus the designers and engineers have to keep up with the alert rhythm. One such project that seems to define the tempo itself is the Touch Effect by Marco Sweston of the Munich University of Applied Sciences. The whole car was penciled as a continuation of the Mercedes-Benz Silver Arrows W25.
With the digital age in full swing, we no longer have to leave our homes to find new experiences. As powerful as alternative reality may be, by 2030 designer Marco Sweston expects to see a major shift in people’s attitudes, & imagines that many will not only abandon their controllers, but will seek even more extreme thrills than before the digital revolution. The Touch Effect racing event and vehicle is a result of this concept that puts the digitally stimulated user back in the driver’s seat.

They will spend their spare time alone at home and social contacts will only take place via online networks. The use of public transport and the simulation of all actions will raise a longing to sit behind a real steering wheel again. They want to really join the race, rather than simulating the trip digitally only on the screen.
The basic concept of the Touch Effect makes use of these developments. Based on the rental of racing cars for private persons on specially designed tracks the vehicle is used similarly to today's karting as a group activity, pushing them to their limits. The vehicle displays a continuation of the legendary Silver Arrows like the W25, carrying the tradition and the myth of these vehicles into 2030.
What will we all do for fun in the future when we’re bored with all the digital thrills we have sought indoors? Designer Marco Sweston has the answer: a track racer built from synthetic bone, muscle, and skin that runs in a pack on a custom-designed race course. The Touch Effect concept uses a carbon fiber frame reminiscent of a skeleton, which is surrounded by synthetic muscles that control the suspension, steering, and insulation of the vehicle. Topping it all off is an acrylic glass skin that is transparent to show off the muscles doing their thing underneath. The steering mechanism is an extension of the muscles, which functions like reins.
Designed as a continuation of the Silver Arrows like W25, the project has been to a large extent inspired by this model of Mercedes Benz. The vehicle thereby designed for this sport car has a light weight main body with a stiff carbon frame that imparts it ruggedness and an overall stability. The other core muscles for the motor-sport vehicle have been made from flexible synthetic that can be deformed using voltage difference.

These have been covered partially using acrylic glass surfaces on the exterior thereby giving a visual feel of a merger of all parts into one volume. However, the hull has been kept a bit unveiled so as to convey the impression of being light-weight. In addition to the designing part, the vehicle has facilities for automatic ground clearance adjustment as well as a four-wheel steering.
The exterior acrylic glass surfaces partially surround the muscles. They represent the skin of the concept which merges all parts into one volume and make them visible underneath, showing off their function. All elements combined allow a directed and controlled motion. The two skin surfaces surround the driver like a brace to emphasize the seating position. The transparent hull is unveiled at areas which do not necessarily need a covering. This reduction and the see-trough appearance reflect the idea of lightweight car construction.
Eventually, the muscles flow into the interior and form a part of the steering. The vehicle is controlled by pulling the muscles - similar to the idea of reins on a horse. The muscles accentuate the shape of the frame and run into the wheels to accentuate their function.

2012 Mercedes SLS AMG Roadster


After tons of spyshots and rumours, Mercedes-Benz has officially and finally revealed the Roadster version of the SLS AMG.

A 6.3 liter V8 engine that produces 563bhp and 650Nm of torque powers the car and is coupled to a a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, which helps the car to accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in just 3.7 seconds and hit a top speed of 317km/h. The roadster features a three-ply soft top that can be raised or lowered in just eleven seconds at a maximum speed of 50km/h.

Mercedes-Benz SLK AMG 2012


A newly designed SLK AMG will hit the market in February of 2012 and the stor under the hood will be a 372-bhp V6 twin-turbo, it has massage seat and the most interesting of all, it does the 0-60mph in only 4 seconds. The customers will have to pay 89 000$ for the German sportscar. It's immense torque and power will make it a big competitor the new Nissan 370Z and it's brother: Mercedes-Benz SL550 2011.

We all know (I hope) the famous German car company, Mercedes-Benz, and how in the past few years they have been very successful with their new car designs or the ones they improved, well by the look of the new car a car fan spotted made by Mercedes is probably going to make them even better than what they are right now. Ok, the reason why we say it is so good is because we are judging by Mercedes' reputation, almost all of their new cars are good. The reason why we are saying that is because, unlike the other spy shots where we had a little bit of info on the car, on this one, we have NOTHING about it! All we have are the pictures. There are some rumors that say that it is going to be Mercedes' new M class. We will obviously keep you updated on the car.

Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Cormeum



Mansory added to their Geneva Auto Salon lineup by displaying their Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG tuning kit that they call the 'Cormeum'. The name was picked personally by Kourosh Mansory, inspirations coming from the Vincero Veyron. The car is limited to only 15 examples, while light-weight materials help save 90kg.

LED lights where added to the exterior package, while the new front skirt supplies the enlarged cooler that propels the air out of the new bonnet. Side skirts make the two-seater look even lower and longer, while Cormeum extends by 66 millimetres at the front axle and 84 millimetres at the rear axle. The rear apron has been exchanged and a race diffuser renders additional downforce. A rear spoiler with carbon flaps was also added.

Forged wheels measure 9×20 inches with 265/30er tyres at the front and 11×21 inches with 295/25er tyres at the rear axle. The tyres are provided by Michelin. Due to new springs and dampers, the Cormeum’ s center of gravity is 20mm lower than the basic model.

For performance, the car got a power increase to 660hp and a maximum torque of 4,850 rpm. Mansory is working an another package with a tune up to 800hp.

For interior styling, the Cormeum features a newly designed centre console, developed sports steering wheel, aluminium pedals and many more real carbon applications.

The LA Auto Show will be getting more than it bargained for with its 2010 Design Challenge- thanks to the designers at Mercedes-Benz. The German automaker has come up with a concept that will even give the breathtaking Lamborghini Sesto Elemento a run for its money. Coming out of the coffers of the automaker’s hi-tech design studio in Carlsbad, California, the Biome concept car is a futuristic looking green machine.

Totally fitting to a certain guy named Hubert, the studio head who was behind the jazzy Mercedes-Benz CLS we saw at the Paris Motor Show and the F800 Style concept car unveiled at the Geneva Auto Show earlier this year.The Biome concept came into being after the 2010 Los Angeles Design Challenge was created with a few tight rules: to develop a safe and comfortable two-plus-two compact car that weighs no more than 1000lb (454kg). And Merc has used a generous splash of BioFibre to make sure the new concept car tips the scales at just 875.5lb (394 kg). For the lovers of fiction and fantasy, the German automaker has claimed that the Biome blooms from seeds infused with the Mercedes-Benz DNA, and derives most of its energy from the good old Sun. This is accomplished by storing the energy in chemical bonds, in the form of a fluid called BioNectar4534. To complete the green quotient, the concept car even sputters out pure oxygen into the environment.

Those hoping to have their sci-fi dreams fulfilled at the show might be in for a little disappointment though. Mercedes-Benz has decided to save the best for the last, and we might be feasting our eyes on this beauty only at the prize-distribution ceremony for the LA Design Challenge. Reportedly, the automaker will be shelling out two other concept cars: the Smart 454 Weight Watch Technology designed at its Sindelfingen-based studio in Germany and Maybach eRikscha from its Yokahama-based studio in Japan during the show.

Each year the LA Auto Show plays host to the Los Angeles Design Challenge, where aspiring designers partner with automakers to envision the future of mobility. This year’s theme was to create the 1,000-pound car, and Mercedes-Benz’ three designs – one from the U.S., another from Germany and yet another from Japan – are predictably out there. The entrant from Mercedes’ U.S. design arm in Carlsbad, CA was not only rendered but built into a full-scale model. The basis for the Biome Concept is a vehicle that “grows in a completely organic environment from seeds sown in a nursery.”

Not only that, but it’s powered by a combination of the sun and a chemical bond from an imaginary liquid dubbed BioNectar4534. It’s all natural, all organic and all science fiction. Size-wise, the Biome comes in at a theoretical 875 pounds, but it’s massively wide, slightly shorter than a CL and about as tall as a Vector. M-B’s German design team created the Smart Weight-Watch, an ultra-compact dunebuggy with removable and recyclable plastic and cloth panels, a carbon fiber tub and tires (you read that last part right) and a lithium-ion battery powering two 15 kW motors. Total weight: exactly 1,000 pounds. Finally there’s the Maybach eRikscha from Japan, a four-passenger, two-wheeled “amalgamation of organic intelligence and biomechanical engineering artistry.”

The top-of-the-range version of the four-door coupé is equipped with the newly developed AMG V8 biturbo engine, featuring a peak output of up to 557 hp and 800 Nm of torque, as well as the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission. The combination of an AMG RIDE CONTROL sports suspension with an electronically controlled damping system and new front axle, newly developed electromechanical AMG sports parameter steering, and also optional AMG ceramic high-performance composite braking system, is synonymous with maximum driving dynamics. Visually, the Mercedes-Benz CLS63 AMG impresses with its athletic appearance and distinctive exterior and interior design. The model's standard specification also includes innovative LED High Performance headlamps.


"The new CLS63 AMG continues the success story of the previous models, the CLS55 AMG and CLS63 AMG, which have delighted our customers all around the world since 2004", according to Ola Källenius, Head of Mercedes-AMG GmbH. "The CLS63 AMG is a unique high-performance car - it sets new standards in design, performance and efficiency."

Like the S63 AMG and CL63 AMG, drivers of the Mercedes-Benz CLS63 AMG will benefit from an eight-cylinder powerhouse, designated internally as the M 157: the new AMG 5.5-litre V8 biturbo engine boasts a combination of innovative high-tech components which, in addition to spray-guided direct petrol injection with piezo injectors, also include a full aluminium crankcase, four-valve technology with camshaft adjustment, air/water intercooling, generator management and stop/start system. In conjunction with the AMG Performance package, these figures increase to 557 hp and 800 Nm. Both variants of the Mercedes-Benz CLS63 AMG achieve exceptional performance: acceleration from 0-62 mph takes 4.4 and 4.3 seconds respectively, and the top speed is 155 mph (electronically limited).

Quantum leap: fuel consumption reduced by 32 percent 

Exclusive: AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission
A major contribution towards achieving the unrivalled consumption figures has been made by the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission, a component used exclusively at Mercedes-AMG. A green "ECO" symbol in the AMG instrument cluster shows the driver that the stop/start function is active.

Autonomously developed AMG RIDE CONTROL sports suspension
The suspension, steering and braking system of the new CLS63 AMG complement the high-tech drive system perfectly. The driver can switch between the three suspension modes of "Comfort", "Sport" and "Sport plus" at the press of a button.

AMG ceramic high-performance composite braking system available as an option
Perfect deceleration even when driving extremely briskly is ensured by the AMG high-performance braking system with 360 mm, internally ventilated and perforated brake discs all-round. The optional AMG ceramic high-performance composite braking system with yet larger brake discs guarantees an even higher level of braking performance as well as lower unsprung masses. Good contact with the road, meanwhile, is provided courtesy of the titanium grey-painted, high-sheen AMG light-alloy wheels featuring a new triple-spoke design and fitted with 255/35 R 19 tyres on the front and 285/30 R 19 tyres on the rear. Like the SLS AMG, the Mercedes-Benz CLS63 AMG is also fitted with doors featuring a full aluminium construction.

Light-years ahead: LED High Performance headlamps as standard
Fitted as standard, for the first time ever this new light system provides the Intelligent Light System already proven in Mercedes models fitted with bi-xenon headlamps in combination with LED technology. The headlamps, with their 71 LED lamps in total, underline the unmistakable appearance of the CLS63 AMG. The LED daytime driving lights specific to AMG are also presented in two characteristic light strips integrated into the AMG front apron.

The top-of-the-range AMG model distinguishes itself from the other CLS variants with its distinctive bonnet, wider mudguards with "V8 BITURBO" logo and a specific AMG front apron with black painted cross member. Eye-catching features at the rear include the diffuser insert, the AMG spoiler lip on the boot lid, the AMG sports exhaust system with dual twin chrome tailpipes, and - as also featured on the SLS AMG - integrated rear foglamp. All of the AMG-specific design and appointment features ideally supplement the redesigned CLS interior. The wrap-around effect in the cockpit, with its high line which sweeps from the driver's door over the instrument panel support and across to the front passenger door, is generously flanked by high-quality trim elements - available in black piano lacquer as standard in the top-of-the-range AMG model. The extensive range of standard appointments also includes AMG sports seats in nappa leather, a new three-spoke AMG Performance steering wheel with aluminium shift paddles and flattened top and bottom sections, and the AMG DRIVE UNIT with compact E-SELECT selector lever.

High-quality materials, comprehensive standard equipment, and a dynamic ambience typical of an AMG are the defining elements of the newly designed interior.

The AMG front apron is also markedly powerful: thanks to the drawn-out side air intakes with black grilles - flanked by LED daytime driving lights - and central air intake with black-painted cross strut, it makes for a real head-turning feature. A further highlight of the front view are the LED High-Performance headlamps. The characteristic AMG front apron continues stylishly into the broad wings, with integrated "V8 BITURBO" logo. The filigree spokes also provide a glimpse of the generously dimensioned AMG high-performance braking system.
The powerfully shaped rear end of the Mercedes-Benz CLS63 AMG is an equal match for the car's front and side views: the exciting profile of the AMG rear apron with black diffuser insert also incorporates the dual twin chrome tailpipes of the AMG sports exhaust system as well as the rear fog lamp. 

Exceptional quality of interior finish
The same goes for the leather upholstery: the AMG sports seats in nappa leather with cross-stitch sports design feature a surface quality which is particularly soft to the touch, making any journey in the Mercedes-Benz CLS63 AMG an exceptionally pleasant experience. The driver and front seat passenger are accommodated in separate, newly developed AMG sports seats with electric adjustment, multicontour and memory functions, seat heating and AMG badges. The two individual seats in the rear are designed to match the front AMG sports seats.

The new AMG Performance steering wheel with its three-spoke design has aluminium shift paddles, flattened upper and lower sections as well as specially shaped grip areas covered in perforated leather.

A highlight of the exclusive CLS63 AMG instrumentation is the colourful three-dimensional TFT display in the centre of the speedometer, which welcomes the driver by displaying a striking AMG logo when the driver's door is opened. The AMG DRIVE UNIT, which is angled towards the driver, enables individual settings to be selected for the MCT sports transmission, the ESP® functions, the suspension set-up and the AMG drive modes.

The 2011 Mercedes-Benz CL550 comes with the latest technology while providing a comfortable ride, but the car needs a better approach to driving at low speeds. The 2011 Mercedes Benz CL550 4Matic Coupe Luxury Sport Sedan CL-Class has been unveiled and Stuttgart’s large coupe gets some nice exterior and interior upgrades. However the most significant changes come under the hood with the new 2011 CL550 getting a new 4.6L V8 twin-turbo making 429-hp and a maximum torque of 516 lb-ft. The out going model made 382-hp and a peak torque of 391 lb-ft. Even with that increase in power, fuel-economy has been improved by 10-15 percent. The 2011 Mercedes-Benz CL550 4MATIC goes from 0-60 mph in just 4.9 seconds (previous model did it in 5.4 seconds) with a top speed of 155 mph (electronically governed).

These new engines make their U.S. debut in the restyled 2011 Mercedes Benz CL550 4Matic Coupe Luxury Sport Sedan CL-Class set to arrive at Mercedes-Benz dealerships in November. The flagship coupe of the Mercedes-Benz model range, the CL-Class features a new hood, fenders, grille, bi-xenon headlights with LED turn signals and daytime running lights. The rear of the vehicle incorporates new LED taillights, bumper-integrated exhaust pipes and reverse lights now located in the trunk lid. Inside, the interior includes new steering wheel design and interior colors.

New V8 bi-turbo engine with innovative technology. The new-generation CL-Class also assumes a pioneering role with its drivetrain. Under the hood of the CL550 4MATIC a new V8 biturbo engine with BlueDIRECT technology delivers impressive power. With its 4663 cc displacement, the eight-cylinder engine produces 429 hp so that despite 0.8 liters less displacement, it is still around 12 percent more powerful than its predecessor, which had an output of 382 hp. At the same time, torque was raised from 391 lb-ft to 516 lb-ft ““ an increase of 32 percent.

The new engine achieves a 10-15% improvement in fuel economy and 23% improvement in CO2 emissions. The CL550 4MATIC requires a mere 4.9 seconds to accelerate from a standstill to 60 mph (previous model: 5.4 seconds). Summing up: the CL550 4MATIC is significantly more agile, torquey and thriftier than its predecessor.

The 3D navigation system provides the detail, and Harman Kardon stereo sounds excellent. night vision and adaptive cruise control add security and comfort. Born out of the 2010 LA Auto Show’s Los Angeles Design Challenge, in which automotive designers are given free range to envision the future of transportation, the Biome is meant to blend seamlessly into the planet’s ecosystem. That means all components of the 2010 Mercedes-Benz Sport Cars Biome Concept car are “grown” organically, and it emits pure oxygen and is fully compostable at the end of its service life.

The basis for the Biome Concept is a vehicle that "grows in a completely organic environment from seeds sown in a nursery." Not only that, but it's powered by a combination of the sun and a chemical bond from an imaginary liquid dubbed BioNectar4534. It's all natural, all organic and all science fiction.
"As the inventor of the motor car, we wanted to illustrate the vision of the perfect vehicle of the future, which is created and functions in complete symbiosis with nature. The Mercedes-Benz BIOME is a natural technology hybrid, and forms part of our earth's ecosystem. It grows and thrives like the leaves on a tree" according to Hubert Lee, Head of the Mercedes-Benz Advanced Design Studios in Carlsbad.

This year the competition had called for the creation of a vision of a safe and comfortable 2+2 compact car featuring good handling and a first-class design, and weighing only 1,000 lbs (around 454 kg/kerb weight).
The 2010 Mercedes-Benz Sport Cars Biome Concept symbiosis vehicle is made from an ultralight material called BioFibre and tips the scales at just 875.5 lbs (around 394 kg). This material is significantly lighter than metal or plastic, yet more robust than steel. BioFibre is grown from proprietary DNA in the Mercedes-Benz nursery, where it collects energy from the sun and stores it in a liquid chemical bond called BioNectar4534.

The 2010 Mercedes-Benz Sport Cars Biome Concept is powered by BioNectar4534, which is stored in the BioFibre material of the chassis, interior, and wheels. In addition, Mercedes-Benz has developed a technology to equip trees with special receptors which can collect the excess solar energy and turn it into BioNectar4534. This creates a direct link with nature's energy sources and acts as an incentive to cover mobility energy requirements through more trees and at the same time maintain natural resources.
The Los Angeles Design Challenge is part of the Design Los Angeles conference, taking place from 17 to 18 November 2010 as part of the Los Angeles Auto Show.
