Porsche unveiled this week their new racer; the GT3 R. It is powered by a 6-cylinder boxer engine producing 480 horsepower. Weighing just 1,200 kg or 2,646 lb, the car takes the wide body of the 911 GT3 RS. The car includes an anti-lock brake system (ABS), traction control and an electronic throttle with 'blip' function on gearbox down-changes. This will help the new GT3 racer easier for drivers to get used to than its predecessor. The 911 GT3 R will make its world debut on 14 January 2010 at the Birmingham Motor Show and will start performing for race teams in the spring of 2010.
